The strongest privacy paper trail in its class and a checkout that still takes Bitcoin — with one financial catch you need to see before you buy.

NordVPN is the easiest top-tier VPN to recommend in 2026 — if you manage the renewal. The privacy evidence is the strongest in its class right now: a Panama base outside the Eyes alliances, six independent no-logs audits with the latest by Deloitte in December 2025, RAM-only servers, and a checkout that accepts Bitcoin, Ethereum and XRP. The catch is purely financial: the advertised $3.49/month is a first-term price, and Basic renews at $139.08/year. Buy the long term, set a calendar reminder for month 26, and NordVPN is excellent value. Forget, and it's merely a good VPN at a premium price.
| Cheapest entry | Basic, $3.49/mo on the 2-year term ($94.23 for 27 months) |
|---|---|
| Monthly plan | $14.99/mo (Basic) |
| Renewal | $139.08/year (Basic) — the number to remember |
| Jurisdiction | Panama (parent Nord Security, Amsterdam) |
| No-logs audits | 6, most recently Deloitte (Dec 2025) |
| Simultaneous connections | 10 |
| Protocols | NordLynx (WireGuard-based), OpenVPN |
| Kill switch | Yes — app-level and system-level |
| Pay with crypto | Yes — BTC, ETH, XRP, LTC, Dash via CoinGate |
| Money-back guarantee | 30 days |
NordVPN sells one VPN at three bundle levels. The VPN itself — servers, protocols, no-logs policy, kill switch — is identical on every tier. Higher tiers add separate products, so buy them only if you'd buy those products anyway.
| Tier | Monthly | 1-year (per mo) | 2-year (per mo) | Renews at |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | $14.99 | $5.49 ($65.88/yr) | $3.49 ($94.23 for 27 mo) | $139.08/year |
| Complete | $19.99 | $6.49 ($77.88/yr) | $4.49 ($121.23 for 27 mo) | $219.48/year |
| Prime | $29.99 | $9.49 ($113.88/yr) | $7.49 ($202.23 for 27 mo) | $296.28/year |
(US introductory pricing checked October 2026. The "2-year" term actually bills 27 months — NordVPN adds three bonus months. Sales tax may be added at checkout.)
Two add-ons are worth knowing about: a dedicated IP (~$3.69/mo on the two-year plan) — genuinely useful if your bank or exchange keeps challenging logins from shared VPN IPs — and Incogni, a data-broker removal service (~$4.49/mo).
This is where NordVPN separates itself. The company is incorporated in Panama, outside the 5/9/14 Eyes alliances and without mandatory data retention. Its infrastructure runs on RAM-only servers, so nothing persists on disk between reboots. And the no-logs claim isn't just a policy page: it has been through six independent audits, with the most recent completed by Deloitte in December 2025 (earlier rounds involved PwC). No other provider in our crypto VPN comparison has an audit that fresh.
For crypto users, the payment side matches the privacy side: checkout accepts Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, Litecoin and Dash via CoinGate. You can hold the subscription without adding another card record — and if you want zero trail at all, NordVPN also sells prepaid cards through physical retailers such as Best Buy and Target, payable in cash.
HoardAds has not yet completed its own hands-on NordVPN test cycle, and this review doesn't claim otherwise: it is built from NordVPN's published specifications and pricing (October 2026), the public audit record, and the hands-on testing of established review outlets (sources below). When our own testing lands, this page will be updated and dated. If the evidence changes, the verdict changes — that's the deal.
